The Blood Bank of Bataan General Hospital in coordination with the Municipality of Pilar has successfully conducted its Bloodletting activity last January 27, 2017 at the municipal covered court in Pilar, Bataan wherein several people from different walks of life were gathered to share their lives voluntarily by means of giving their blood. The primary objective of the said activity is to collect a variety of blood products that will be utilized in saving the lives of patients especially among in-patients of BGH who are in need of blood.
Likewise, the Republic Act No. 7719 otherwise known as National Blood Services Act of 1994 aims to create public consciousness on the importance of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation (VNRBD) in saving the lives of millions of Filipinos.
In December 2015, the Bataan General Hospital has successfully acquired the license to operate its Blood Bank from the DOH Central Office. The said Blood Bank purchases refrigerators wherein it can store bags of blood which are ready for use anytime especially among BGH patients. Every day, the Blood bank serves an average of 15-20 patients who are in need of blood product.
