The Bataan General Hospital celebrated its 73rd founding anniversary last December 01, 2014. The celebration was officially started with a motorcade wherein different modern equipment as well as services of BGH was being promoted to the public. Right after that, a Holy mass was being celebrated by Rev. Fr. Abraham Pantig of the Diocese of Balanga and it was followed by ribbon cutting and blessing of the new equipment and facilities of BGH namely CT scan, Heart station especially treadmill, cardiac and holter monitors, endoscopy, cryosurgery, C-arm and also the TB-DOTS Center wherein it houses the GeneXpert machine which is a modern way of detecting Tuberculosis especially to those patients who developed resistance to anti-TB drugs.
The program proper was started with an invocation and Philippine National Anthem and was followed by the launching of the BGH hymn composed by Mr. Romeo C. Tuazon Jr., Health Education and Promotion Officer II while Mr. Anthony R. Villanueva, Nurse I for the music; both are employees of BGH. Likewise, Dr. Jocelyn S. Bongco, head of pediatric department and over-all chairman of the 73rd founding anniversary, gave the welcome address and Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, medical center chief, gave her inspirational message wherein she emphasized the development of BGH in terms of equipment and facilities as well as its manpower that strongly supports its being ISO-accredited institution. On the other hand, under secretary Gerardo V. Bayugo of the Department of Health expressed his gladness for what the BGH has already achieved. He also stressed the importance of the strong linkages between the local government and BGH in the delivery of quality health care services. Furthermore, Hon. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III, mayor of the city of Balanga, delivered his message that focused on the quality services that are being provided by BGH in congruent with the aspirations of the city of Balanga to be a World Class City. Also, the former Governor and now the Congressman of the 2nd district of Bataan, Hon. Enrique "Tet" Garcia expressed his gratefulness to be part of the BGH wherein he reminisced the time in which he pursued the re-nationalization of the BGH. On the other hand, Hon. Albert S. Garcia, governor of Bataan, gave his warmest gratitude to all the employees of the BGH because of their hardworking especially during the ISO accreditation. Dr. Noel Laxamana of the Emergency Department gave the closing remark. The program was attended by different municipal mayors and health officers as well as chiefs from district hospitals in Bataan.
Part also of the celebration was the awarding of free laboratory services to the eight out-patients while one in-patient received free endoscopy, another one patient became a recipient of free CT-scan and also one patient was benefited from free treadmill test. Likewise, a Sports Fest was held in the afternoon of the same day among BGH employees wherein popular Filipino games were played such as Palo Sebo, Hampas Palayok, Pabitin, Bakya Mo Neneng, Sack race and Tug of War. The players of the said game were the representatives of each hospital department namely Medical & Ancillary, Nursing Service and Hospital Operations & Patient Support.
