national womensmonth

The Women’s Month is usually celebrated in all parts of the county every month of March in recognition of the important role of women in the society. With a national theme of “We Make Change Work for Women”, Bataan General Hospital conducted a lay forum. BGH’s Medical Center Chief, Dr. Glory V. Baltazar gave her inspirational message among those women and pregnant patients who attended the said event on March 23, 2017, at the Out-patient Department. Also, Dr. Don Arlie Romeo, head of Surgery Department, gave his lecture on Breast Cancer wherein he emphasized the importance of early detection of the disease through having a regular breast self-examination and mammography especially among those who have a family history of said disease. On the other hand, Dr. Elmer Santos, OB-Gyne oncologist, discussed his topic on Cervical Cancer particularly on its cause, common manifestations, and management.

Mr. Romeo C. Tuazon Jr., HEPO, encouraged the participants to be more proactive as far as health promotion is concerned through having a regular consultation with their doctors and also by having a healthy lifestyle such as having a balanced diet, regular exercise and avoidance of bad habit most especially smoking.

After the lecture, BGH provides free abdominal ultrasound among pregnant patients who attended the said lay forum as well as free Pap smear to both patients and BGH employees for the whole month of May 2017.
