
The Bataan General Hospital joins the international community in the celebration of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2017, with a theme “Unite to End TB” through a lay forum among TB patients and their significant others which were conducted at the Out-Patient Department of the hospital. Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, Medical Center Chief, gave her welcome remarks thereby re-emphasizing that government hospital like BGH is working for the patients to provide quality health care services. Dr. Baltazar encouraged those patients who are afflicted and suffering from TB to comply with their treatment regimen by taking their drugs religiously and living a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Joseph Quan, TB-DOTS / STC Physician, discussed the Basics of Tuberculosis as well as the common misconception of the community about it. On the other hand, Mr. Ares Bornolia, TB-DOTS nurse, gave his lecture on the proper way of coughing known as “Ubokabularyo”. Lastly, Mr. Romeo C. Tuazon Jr., HEPO, presented the TB-HIV collaboration program of the Department of Health and discussed the relationship between the two life-threatening diseases and gave precautionary measures relative thereto.
Aside from the lecture, BGH provided free X-ray services among those who are presumptive TB patients as well as their significant others.
