The Blood Bank of Bataan General Hospital in coordination with the Bataan Multi-Sectoral Governance Coalition (MSGC) has successfully conducted its Bloodletting activity last March 18, 2016 and it will be done twice a year with a primary objective of collecting blood that will be utilized in saving the lives of patients especially the in-patients of BGH who are in need of blood. Bataan MSGC serves an oversight committee for the performance of provincial government wherein Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, Medical Center Chief of BGH, is one of its members particularly for the health sector.

Most of the blood donors were students from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the municipalities of Mariveles and Orion as well as from the Bataan Peninsula State University (Main Campus). In fact, the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) of the Department of Health is targeting the youth as volunteers in its blood donation program. In accordance with RA No. 7719 otherwise known as National Blood Services Act of 1994, it aims to create public consciousness on the importance of blood donation in saving the lives of millions of Filipinos (DOH website).

In December 2015, the Bataan General Hospital has successfully acquired the license to operate its Blood Bank from the DOH Central Office. The said Blood Bank purchased blood refrigerator wherein it can store bags of blood which are ready for use anytime especially among BGH patients. Every day, the Blood bank serves an average of 15-20 patients who are in need of blood product.
