JELO MAE G. ZABALA is one of the 100-Millionth Baby from Bataan. The baby weighing 3 kilos was born through normal spontaneous delivery on July 27, 2014 at 12:06AM attended by Dr. Bernadette Dimatulac at the Bataan General Hospital, Balanga City. She is the first child of Joel T. Zabala and Mary Jane Gerbasio of Brgy. Sta Elena, Orion, Bataan.
The search for the 100-Millionth Baby as explained by Dir. Eleanor Cura of POPCOM Region III, is a call to make every child be born wanted and ensured of his/her basic needs, health, education and other development. It was lauched as an opportunity to highlight the significance of the Phillipine Population Management Program in pursuing national and local development.
The newborn infant, Jelo Mae is one among the eight newborn infants from the seven provinces of Region III and the City of San Fernando declared as symbolic 100-Millionth Baby. As such, the baby was awarded a Starter Kit worth Five Thousand Pesos (5,000.00). Other government agencies have pledged various type of support under the program.
The Bataan General Hospital through the Medical Center Chief, Glory V. Baltazar who was very happy that BGH became the venue of this significant milestone in the history of population development, extended support to the project and to the family of Jelo Mae. All the expenses incurred by the mother and child during their confinement at the hospital were covered by Philhealth or No Balance Billing (NBB). These include hospital bills, Newborn screening and Hearing Tests among others. Dr. Baltazar further expressed that BGH welcomes all the patients and mothers who need quality medical care since the hospital could now offer services at par with other private hospitals in terms of equipment and facilities.
