
The HIV-AIDS Core Team (HACT) of Bataan General Hospital has successfully conducted the seminar on HIV Awareness among the employees of Orica Philippines Incorporated in Limay, Bataan last May 24, 2016. The said activity was initiated by the Medical Center Chief of BGH, Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, as part of the hospital's advocacy on HIV awareness especially in the workplace and also in the observance of Philippine AIDS Hour and AIDS Candlelight. Mr. Romeo Tuazon Jr., Health Education and Promotion Officer of BGH, discussed the Basics of STI, HIV and AIDS wherein he emphasized the modes of transmission of HIV and its preventive measures. On the other hand, Dr. Noel Laxamana, HACT physician, gave his lecture on the importance of HIV counseling and testing as well as the different services offered by Bataan HAVEN. HAVEN which stands for Home Away from Verdict of society Ensuring Nurture is the only treatment hub in the province of Bataan dedicated for people living with HIV.
Aside from the lecture, the team distributed IEC flyers, condoms and lubes to the employees. Likewise, the team also provided free on-site HIV counseling and testing wherein some of the employees were voluntarily tested.
Other members of the HACT who were present on the said activity were Dr. Maria Almira Kiat (Asst. HACT physician), Mr. Johnson Palaypay (Infectious Disease Control Nurse), Ms. Winona Nacu (Proficient MedTecH) and Ms. Sheryl David (HACT Nurse).
