The Bataan HAVEN has successfully conducted the Seminar on HIV-AIDS among BGH employees in the observance of Philippine AIDS Hour, Philippine AIDS Candlelight Memorial Celebration and Launching of Ligtas Buntis Ligtas Sanggol laban sa HIV at syphilis. Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, Medical Center Chief of BGH, emphasized that BGH is very fortunate for having a treatment hub dedicated for people living with HIV (PLHIV) which is the only one in the province. She added that it is the responsibility of each BGH employee to be aware on HIV-AIDS epidemic and show their support to those who are afflicted by the said disease. Likewise, she commended the HIV-AIDS Core Team (HACT) for their effort in spearheading the information dissemination campaign about HIV-AIDS.

Mr. Romeo Tuazon Jr., Health Education and Promotion Officer, discussed the Basics of STI, HIV and AIDS particularly its mode of transmission and preventive measures. The AIDS Law otherwise known as RA 8504 was delivered by one of the HACT physicians Dr. Maria Almira Kiat. On the other hand, Mr. Johnson Palaypay, Infectious Disease Control Nurse, talked about HIV counseling and testing while Ms. Maileen Ragasa, Profocient MedTech, gave her lecture on Pregnancy and Syphilis. Lastly, proper use of condom was demonstrated by Ms. Sheryl David, one of the nurses in Bataan HAVEN.

After the seminar proper, it was followed by a candle lighting ceremony and human formation of ribbon as a way of honoring the lost to AIDS and supporting the PLHIV. It was attended by 100 employees from the Medical and Ancillary, HOPS and Nursing Divisions.
