A premier training and educational center in Family and Community Medicine committed to enhancing the implementation of Universal Healthcare through capacity building front-line physicians various government and private health care facilities.

MISSION

  • To provide relevant training experiences that anchored to core values of family and community medicine
  • To implement a training program that is responsive to the health needs of Filipino patients, families, and communities.
  • To expand training experience that will promote continuous professional development to ensure quality health care and patient safety.
  • To enable development of skills implementing relevant research aligned with National Unified Research Agenda (NURA).
  • To increase competencies to be role model leaders and advocates of family medicine discipline and practice.
  • To implement training strategies for inter-professional education and collaboration.

OBJECTIVES

  • To produce competent Family Physicians practicing continuous, compassionate, comprehensive, patient-centered, family-focused, community-oriented care.
  • The program follows the standards set for training for family medicine by the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians. Additional training will be designed to meet the needed competencies required by the area of assignment and placement of the trainee.

 Requirements

Any licensed physician, MHO/PHO and moonlighters who at not more than 50 years of age can apply for residency training.

All applicants are required the following to determine who will be recommended for a residency position

  • Written examination or pre-admission competency assessment*
  • Interview by the committee
  • Two-week apprenticeship/pre-residency training without pay
  • Reference letter from 3 superiors

* Pre-admission competency assessment includes past clinical experiences (current work and cases handled in area of practice, verified certificate courses received with competency assessment)
Any applicant qualified and recommended by the training committee will be required to sign a contract-to-train that stipulates guidelines of training and policies for resigning from the program.
