A department that is at the forefront in rendering quality anesthesia health care in Central Luzon with a progressive approach to an evolving anesthesia practice and produce board certified graduates by 2021 and beyond.

  • To provide adequate training in the practice of Anesthesia
  • To guide the residents in the responsibility of teaching and training others in the art and science of specialty.
  • To cultivate the spirit of research by providing the residents with a working knowledge in doing basic clinical research of the specialty.
  • To prepare the residents to take any qualifying examinations given by any recognized office for the purpose of certifying competence in the practice of Anesthesia and its subspecialties.


  • To enable the graduates to competently engage in the private practice of Anesthesia anywhere in the Philippines. In this regard, the hospital issues a Certificate of Completion of Training once all requirements have been fulfilled.
  • To fulfill the requirements of the department and Training Office in producing completed research papers
  • To actively teach and train certain aspects of the specialty pertinent to the education of junior residents, interns, clerks, paramedical personnel and patients
  • To enable its graduates to qualify to take the Diplomate examinations given by the Philippine Board of Anesthesiology


The training period is three years duration, mostly at Bataan General Hospital, with rotations at various associated specialty healthcare hospitals. The course will include training in general clinical anesthesia, with foundations in the basic sciences, progressing to exposure in subspecialty practices in anesthesia.

Residents are required to report to the hospital daily (regular rounds + OR cases) and go on 224-hourduty every three days. They will be asked to prepare lectures, literature reviews, weekly case discussions, and occasional morbidity and mortality case presentations. Each senior resident is required to present a research during the annual hospital clinical research presentation.

First Year:
  1. Submit a Case Report
  2. Pass the Written, Oral and Practical Examinations
  3. Score at least 80% in the attitudinal evaluation

Second Year:
  1. Submit a Research Protocol
  2. Pass the Written, Oral and Practical Examinations
  3. Score at least 80% in the attitudinal evaluation

Third Year:
  1. Submit the finished research project
  2. Pass the Written, Oral and Practical Examinations
  3. Score at least 80% in the attitudinal evaluation
