Specific Objectives

  1. To formulate and execute a strict quality assurance system for the provision of obstetric and gynecological services
  2. To conduct appropriate research studies in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  3. To train residents who shall be able to practice skillfully and within acceptable standards of Obstetrics and Gynecology both in the local and international setting and who will qualify for certification by the POGS
  4. To train residents who shall be able to handle administrative functions and assume teaching positions
  5. To promote Continuing Medical Education for continual improvement of both resident and consultant staff

Consultant Staff

  1. Must be Board Certified by POGS (Diplomate or Fellow) and recommended by the Credentials and Accrediting Committee of the hospital
    • A graduate of the BGH OB-GYN Residency Training Program and at least a Junior Member of Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society is accorded special privilege to be part of the staff and to practice within two years from completion of graduation requirements.
  2. Renders professional care to all OB-GYN in-patients and out-patients under their respective services
  3. Attends all staff meetings and conferences as required by the Department
  4. Makes recommendations regarding policies and procedures for the improvement of the department
  5. Participates in programs and undertakings of the department
  6. Renders lecture and other teaching opportunities to the resident staff and other personnel as needed
  7. Patronizes equipment and facilities of the hospital, whenever necessary and with due measure for conservation
  8. Complies with the record keeping and documentation requirements of the hospital within the prescribed time frame given
  9. Performs research work by participating as main author or as adviser of the resident’s researches



Objective: To recruit competent applicants who will stay and finish the residency program


  1. Duly accomplished form together with the credentials required by the residency and training committee of the hospital
  2. Attitude assessment by a psychometrician or psychologist
  3. Interview with the consultant staff of the department
  4. Pre-residency period of at least 1 month
  5. Written examination given by the department
  6. Final recommendation for appointment by the department chair
  7. Final appointment approval by the Medical Center Chief
