JELO MAE G. ZABALA is one of the 100-Millionth Baby from Bataan. The baby weighing 3 kilos was born through normal spontaneous delivery on July 27, 2014 at 12:06AM attended by Dr. Bernadette Dimatulac at the Bataan General Hospital, Balanga City. She is the first child of Joel T. Zabala and Mary Jane Gerbasio of Brgy. Sta Elena, Orion, Bataan.
The search for the 100-Millionth Baby as explained by Dir. Eleanor Cura of POPCOM Region III, is a call to make every child be born wanted and ensured of his/her basic needs, health, education and other development. It was lauched as an opportunity to highlight the significance of the Phillipine Population Management Program in pursuing national and local development.
Red Orchid Award
BGH made it again to the highest level. The Bataan General Hospital won another Red Orchid Award, a search for 100% Tobacco-Free Provinces, Municipalities, Cities, Government Hospitals and DOH Centers. The recognition was awarded during the Zonal Awarding Ceremonies for Luzon held in Baguio City on June 17-19, 2014. The awarding was attended by the Bataan Provincial Governor, Albert S. Garcia, Asec. Gerardo Bayugo, Dr. Enrique Tayag together with other advocates from government and non-government organizations.
For hospital category, it was the second time for this hospital to get the Red Award for being Smoke-Free. The Medical Center Chief, Dr. Glory V. Baltazar who was more concerned to liberate the patients and other stakeholders from ill effects of smoking (both passive and active) took the award as a continuing challenge to fight this disease of the mind, Smoking.
